Nehemiah: Spiritual Renewal Week 7

November 20, 2024

Introduction

Nehemiah 12 Renewing worship...Godʼs people in Godʼs presence

The moment we have all been waiting for...a nation of worshipers gathered together as a dedication to the work God has done. Revival is here, “and the joy of Jerusalem was heard far awayˮ (v43). Finally! Jerusalem is set up as a house of prayer to all nations, the anticipation of the presence of God is at its peak. The people are dedicating their praise and their futures to God once more, and there is praise overflowing from the hearts of Godʼs people into the surrounding nations. How good it is to dwell in the house of the Lord!

Discussion

  • Take turns read Nehemiah chapter 12 Note: there are a lot of names. In chapters like this some groups have played the audio bible and read along. If this is helpful, go for it!
  • What elements of the passage stir excitement or joy in you?
  • Have you experienced “dancing on the walls ˮin your own life?
  • What caused you to have joy in those moments, and how do you feel reflecting on them?

Pray with one another. Celebrate God and all that he has done in your life and in the lives of those you love. Dedicate your hope and praise to him!

Habit of Grace

Service

Service is often not seen as a habit of grace or a spiritual disciple, but rather just a requirement of being a part of a group. Like any family or team you need to participate to really be a part of it. However, the opportunity, desire and capacity to serve is a gift from God designed to shape us in ways that bring fulfilment and joy in God himself.

Share with one another

  • How did you go in finding an expression of service related to your spiritual gift?
  • Is it possible for service to be an expression of praise?

Practice

  1. Pray for God into Godʼs gift of praise, and if that is related to service in your own life.
  2. Commit to serving in some formal capacity. This can be in any ministry. The commitment can be weekly, monthly, weekend, weekday, evening, morning. Note: Sundayʼs at Kingscross is not the only time/place where the church can be built up. There are no limits to the calling of God.

If you would like to discuss serving possibilities inside and outside of Kingscross, please contact stephen@perthchruch.com or call Stephen directly.
